When one drives up to U.A. Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 22's recently expanded headquarters on California Drive in Orchard Park, there's a good chance they'll notice a large and very unique, blue, white, yellow and red metalwork sign that depicts the union's logo.
"It's our International logo, whose formation dates back more than 100 years ago, and it shows the four main tools of each of our four trades: the Sprinklerfitter; the Leadburner; the Steamfitter; and the Plumber. It's what our labor organization stands for," Local 22 Business Manager Mike McNally explained.
The sign was created by Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 22 retiree Joe Cappy, who completed the logo shortly before he passed away several years ago.
"The way Joe was able to put the logo together in such a metal format was extremely unique. The number of hours he put into building it were tremendous, and anyone who's visited our headquarters has remarked how unique it is. Our members and visitors to our facility continue to tell me they are very impressed with it," McNally said.
