U.A. Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 22 has a proud history of “giving back” to the Western New York community.

The union and its members have volunteered their professional services for a number of worthwhile and charitable efforts, ranging from Habitat for Humanity on Buffalo’s East Side to the Town of Hamburg’s Legion Field and its junior baseball and softball leagues.

Local 22’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity has allowed a number of families to work towards owning their own homes, Michael McNally, the union’s business manager, said.

“We’re honored to be part of such a worthwhile venture, especially when our union can involve some of our members who grew up on the East Side in their projects. It’s really something special,” he said.

In Hamburg, union plumbers and steamfitters joined with P&SIC-member contractors to donate their services to the youth baseball leagues by refurbishing the restrooms at Legion Field.

“It’s just another example of how our union and our union contractors are involved in the local community, and the role we try to play in terms of giving back. We’re proud we can be of help,” McNally said.
